Wonderful chap, sorely missed. Amongst Frank’s many outstanding qualities was his remarkable gift of true leadership: He was not beholden to the vagaries of public opinion of the day. Instead, he planted his standard in the middle of his core beliefs and his supporters naturally gravitated towards him. We knew of Frank’s ailments but it was only ever the briefest conversation. ‘Mustn’t grumble’ was his stoic British attitude. In Frank we have lost an astute politician and a dedicated public servant and who constantly sought to improve the lives of those around him. His peerless campaigning ability was as legendary as his heroic over-use of the semi-colon. I was very proud to be his friend.
